Brief description: This project transforms the upper level of an existing building into a Museum of Illusions and office pavilion, conceived as a subtle architectural intervention that respects the identity of the original structure. Rather than competing with the building, the design carefully adapts to the existing curved roof geometry, allowing the new elements to integrate naturally within the preexisting architectural language.
The program is organized through a sequence of covered walkways, transitional corridors, and open garden spaces that guide visitors through a gradual spatial experience. At the heart of the intervention, a landscaped courtyard introduces natural light, vegetation, and moments of calm within the dense urban environment.
A dedicated seating area inspired by Japanese garden principles was designed as a contemplative pause along the circulation path. Through controlled proportions, simplicity of materials, and framed views of landscape, this space intentionally evokes sensations of calm, reflection, and spatial balance, contrasting with the dynamic and immersive nature of the museum exhibitions.
Light structural frames, transparent façades, and restrained volumes ensure that the intervention remains architecturally respectful and visually secondary to the existing building, reinforcing the idea that the project is not a replacement, but an enhancement of the original structure.
